Srinagar, Apr 01 (KNO): Marking a significant milestone in technology-driven policing and improved citizen services in the Union Territory, Jammu and Kashmir has secured a top position on the CCTNS Pragati Dashboard of the National Crime Records Bureau. According to official data accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) as of March 1, 2026, J&K ranked first among Union Territories (excluding Delhi), reflecting the sustained and coordinated efforts of the CCTNS team of the Crime Branch, J&K Police. In the overall national ranking of States and UTs, Delhi secured the top position. Pertinently, the rankings are part of the monthly performance assessment conducted under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) by the NCRB under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The evaluation is based on key parameters including data quality, timeliness, and accuracy across national policing platforms integrated with the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS). The Pragati Dashboard report highlights J&K’s strong performance across all major indicators. These include robust connectivity of police stations, full implementation of core CCTNS applications, timely data synchronization with the National Data Centre, and effective integration with ICJS components. The Union Territory has also ensured round-the-clock availability of citizen-centric services through its JK Citizen Portal. Officials said that this achievement will translate into tangible benefits for the public, including faster registration and tracking of cases, improved accuracy of police records, and seamless access to services such as verifications and grievance redressal. It is also expected to enhance coordination across different pillars of the criminal justice system. By leveraging advanced technology and data-driven processes, J&K Police continues to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust, reaffirming its commitment to efficient, responsive, and citizen-centric policing across the Union Territory, said an official—(KNO)
